I ATE BUCKYBALLS FOR DINNER DELICIOUS

NOW I GET TO LIVE TWICE AS LONG!

All C-60 fullerene treated rats survived to at least 59 months, with the oldest surviving to 66 months. The control group lived for periods ranging from 17 months to 37 months, Source: Gizmag.

The prolongation of the lifespan of rats by
repeated oral administration of [60] fullerene

Countless studies showed that [60] fullerene (C60) and derivatives could have many potential biomedical applications. However, while several independent research groups showed that C60 has no acute or subacute toxicity in various experimental models, more than 25 years after its discovery the in vivo fate and the chronic effects of this fullerene remain unknown. If the potential of C60 and derivatives in the biomedical field have to be fulfilled these issues must be addressed. Here we show that oral administration of C60 dissolved in olive oil (0.8 mg/ml) at reiterated doses (1.7 mg/kg of body weight) to rats not only does not entail chronic toxicity but it almost doubles their lifespan. The effects of C60-olive oil solutions in an experimental model of CCl4 intoxication in rat strongly suggest that the effect on lifespan is mainly due to the attenuation of age-associated increases in oxidative stress. Pharmacokinetic studies show that dissolved C60 is absorbed by the gastro-intestinal tract and eliminated in a few tens of hours. These results of importance in the fields of medicine and toxicology should open the way for the many possible and waited for- biomedical applications of C60 including cancer therapy, neurodegenerative disorders, and ageing.” Quote Source: extremelongevity.net.

All fullerenes are susceptible to clumping when dissolved in oil, so the preparation of the olive-oil/C-60 solution is rather lengthy. In these tests, 50 mg of C-60 buckyballs were added to 10 ml of virgin olive oil. These were stirred for two weeks at ambient temperatures with no incident light. Following the stirring, the solutions were centrifuged at 5,000 g for an hour. The fluid was separated from the precipitate, and was then passed through a 0.25 micron filter. The resulting liquid contained 0.8 mg/ml of C-60 buckyballs. Source Gizmag

Life Expectancy: Facts and Predictions

The reality is that life expectancy has been steadily increasing in the last 160 years by about 3 months per year. Where will this trend lead us? Is there an upper limit? (1)

A Harvard team showed the following. Mice engineered to lack telomerase aged prematurely. When given telomerase treatments, the mice rejuvenated to age-appropriate health without adverse side-effects.

Revolutionary Technology of Telomerase Activation for Anti-Aging

Moving America Forward’s Doug Llewelyn interviews Dr. Ed Park about the revolutionary technology of Telomerase Activation, which was the subject of the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 2009. What a fascinating show on anti-aging. No wonder Shatner looks so good at 80.

TA-65 = Powerful Telomerase Activator In 2001, a world-class biotech company named Geron made a landmark discovery. The scientists at Geron Corporation discovered TA-65®, a proprietary, single molecule purified from Astragalus Botanical Roots that causes Telomerase Activation (TA). Astragalus has been used for centuries as a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Its usage dates back to the late Han Dynasty (206 BC) when it was considered a “heaven class” herb due to its anti-aging properties associated with an extended life span. Like Ascorbic Acid (aka Vitamin C,) which occurs in many edible plants, TA-65 is considered a Nutraceutical. TA-65® is NOT the same Astragalus extract products commonly found in herbal and vitamin shops. There is no ongoing monitoring of people taking them so we don’t know what the results may be.

Heart Attack or Stroke?
ScienceDaily (Jan. 25, 2012) — Will you have a heart attack or a stroke in your lifetime? Your odds may be worse than you think.

“We are giving incomplete and misleading risk information if we only focus on the next 10 years of someone’s life,” said principal investigator Donald Lloyd-Jones, MD, chair and associate professor of preventive medicine at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and a physician at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. “With even just one risk factor, the likelihood is very large that someone will develop a major cardiovascular event that will kill them or substantially diminish their quality of life or health.”

Some key findings of the study:

About
The NIH Human Connectome Project is an ambitious effort to map the neural pathways that underlie human brain function. The overarching purpose of the Project is to acquire and share data about the structural and functional connectivity of the human brain. It will greatly advance the capabilities for imaging and analyzing brain connections, resulting in improved sensitivity, resolution, and utility, thereby accelerating progress in the emerging field of human connectomics.

Altogether, the Human Connectome Project will lead to major advances in our understanding of what makes us uniquely human and will set the stage for future studies of abnormal brain circuits in many neurological and psychiatric disorders.

The Future of Love a Biochemical Examination by Helen Fisher

The Neurological Basis of True Love

“You can’t stay in love with yourself or anyone else if you do not continue to evolve and transform intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually.” Source: Psychology Today>>>

Anthropologist Helen Fisher takes on a tricky topic — love – and explains its evolution, its biochemical foundations and its social importance. She closes with a warning about the potential disaster inherent in antidepressant abuse.

“They say “romantic love” was invented by the troubadors of the Middle Ages. They also say it doesn’t last. But Rutgers University anthropologist Helen Fisher and colleagues reported today that functional brain imaging studies show that being “in love” transcends both culture and time.” Read More>>>>

This post is in honor of my loving wife and soul mate as we celebrate our anniversary and our loving family. Doubt thou the stars are fire; doubt that the sun doth move; doubt truth to be a liar; but never doubt I love you. I love thee, I love but thee with a love that shall not die. Till the sun grows cold and the stars grow old.
