IBM Sequoia is now the world’s fastest computer, handling 16.3 quadrillion calculations per second. To put that into average Joe context, it means Sequoia can calculate in one hour what would otherwise take 6.7 billion people 320 years to complete if they worked nonstop on hand calculators.

IBM’s Sequoia supercomputer is currently the fastest computer in the world. This is the first time in two-years the title has gone to an American computer as America has nearly 1/2 of the top 500 fastest computers in the world..
