Hydrogen Systems Laboratory
The system uses a fine powder called metal hydride to absorb hydrogen gas. The researchers have created the system’s heat exchanger, which circulates coolant through tubes and uses fins to remove heat generated as the hydrogen is absorbed by the powder.

Scientists Reach Hydrogen Storage Milestone
One storage structure consists of graphene sheets that are only one atom thick connected by vertical columns of carbon nanotubes. Hydrogen is stored in the gaps between the nanotubes and the graphene sheets. The researchers also added lithium ions to the structure for increased storage capacity.

The future of dentistry – computer aided dental restorations

THE FUTURE OF DENTISTRY
Conference keynote speaker Dr Patrick Dixon for 3M

Many changes are occurring in the technology of dentistry.

Computer Aided Dental Restorations: The CEREC Demo!

Computer added laboratory creation of new tooth colored dental restorations is one of the dental technology fields that is moving forward. For several years now, and increasingly in the future, dental restorations are made by computer in the dentist’s office. Currently combining an in-office / in mouth scanner, 3d design and manufacturing software design software, and computer milling machines (CADCAM) like CEREC and E4D are allowing the creation of dental restorations in office.

But the process currently works best only on a select number of cases, usually on single teeth restorations, especially those with clear dental margins and easy tooth anatomy. But slow and steady progress continues, and within as little as a decade the majority of tooth restorations will be made entirely by computer.
